What Happened
Irish farmers and hauliers staged week-long protests blocking roads, ports, and fuel depots after fuel prices rose 25-28 percent following US-Israel strikes on Iran and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz on February 28. The army was deployed and arrests made. About 40 percent of petrol stations were reportedly empty. Organizers remain unidentified.
