What Happened

WhatsApp has begun rolling out usernames to select users in phases, a feature in development since 2023. Users can create usernames through Settings to share instead of phone numbers, enhancing privacy. Usernames must be three to thirty characters, contain at least one letter, and use only lowercase letters, numbers, periods, and underscores. Broader rollout is expected soon.
