What Happened

A community kitchen in Surat's Pandesara GIDC started 20 days ago serves free meals to migrant textile workers facing hardship. The West Asia war disrupted LPG supplies, reducing raw material flow and forcing mills to cut hours and wages. Around 40 percent of migrant workers left the city. The kitchen, founded by textile industry associates, prepares dal and rice for approximately 2,000 workers daily using donations. Volunteers serve meals between 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm.
