What Happened
Vande Bharat Express trains recorded 34 percent year-on-year growth in FY 2025-26, with passenger numbers increasing to 3.98 crore from 2.97 crore. The Ministry of Railways reported 162 trains operating nationwide. Since inception, over 9.1 crore passengers travelled on 1 lakh trips. Delhi-Varanasi route leads with 73 lakh passengers since February 2019 launch.
