The UAE and Jordan signed a USD 2.3 billion railway agreement to construct a 360-km line connecting mining hubs Al-Shidiya and Ghor Al-Safi to Aqaba Port. The project, operated by Etihad Rail through a joint venture, will transport 16 million tonnes of phosphate and potash annually. Operations begin by 2030.
