
Chandigarh traffic challans fell 23 percent in 2025, dropping from 8.50 lakh to 6.56 lakh cases. The decline coincided with a shift toward CCTV-based e-challaning and reduced manual enforcement. Complaints against traffic police fell 53 percent. Red light jumping, over-speeding, and helmet violations all decreased. Revenue from traffic violations increased to Rs 21.24 crore in 2025. Enforcement intensity appears rising again in 2026.
