A World Inequality Lab study finds India's rural land ownership is highly concentrated. The top 10% of households own 44% of total land while 46% of households are landless. Bihar and Punjab have the highest share of villages where a single landlord owns over 50% of available land. The research analyzed data from 270,000 villages across ten states covering 75% of rural population.
