What Happened

Aadam Jacobs, a Chicago music collector, donated over 10,000 concert recordings spanning decades to the Internet Archive. Volunteers digitized approximately 2,500 tapes, including rare performances from Nirvana in 1989, R.E.M., Sonic Youth, Phish, and other influential artists. Audio engineers improved sound quality from original cassette recordings. The digitized archive is now publicly accessible online.
