
A nine-judge Supreme Court bench reviewed the 2018 Sabarimala judgment that applied anti-untouchability provisions to the temple's age restrictions on women. Justice Nagarathna questioned how untouchability could apply for only three days monthly. The Solicitor General argued the 2018 ruling was wrongly decided and said Sabarimala's practices were unique to that temple, with other Ayyappa temples open to women of all ages.
