Three villages in Coimbatore district—Kalappanaickenpalayam, Somayampalayam, and Kasthurinaickenpalayam—have kept walls free of political posters, flags, and paintings for over 35 years. Political parties and supporters follow a local understanding not to display campaign materials in public spaces. Election campaigns occur through direct candidate-voter contact instead. Walls and common areas remain unmarked year-round.
