The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority acquired land for Laxmi Nagar station in Vikhroli, the last remaining station on Metro Line 4. The 16,762 sqm plot was purchased from Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Company for Rs 164.31 crore. Land acquisition talks began in 2019 but faced legal challenges and bureaucratic delays. Construction surveys are underway. The 32.32-km corridor targets full operations by 2027, expected to reduce travel time between Thane and Mumbai by 50-75 percent.
