A US-Iran ceasefire was announced early Wednesday, less than 90 minutes before President Trump's 8pm Tuesday deadline for military strikes. Trump had threatened to obliterate Iranian infrastructure and eliminate a "whole civilization" if the Strait of Hormuz wasn't reopened. Pakistan-mediated negotiations secured a two-week truce with both sides agreeing to stop attacks. Israel also halted operations but excluded Lebanon. Permanent talks resume Friday in Islamabad.
