The Solana Foundation announced security initiatives Monday, five days after DeFi platform Drift Protocol lost $270 million to North Korean attackers. The centerpiece is Stride, an evaluation program assessing protocols against security standards. Solana also introduced SIRN, a membership-based incident response network. Protocols with over $10 million in locked value receive monitoring and operational security funding. Those exceeding $100 million gain formal verification support. However, these measures would not have prevented the attack, which exploited compromised employee devices through social engineering.
