Snap gets closer to releasing new AI glasses after years-long hiatus

What Happened
Snap's Specs subsidiary announced a partnership with chipmaker Qualcomm to develop new AR glasses for release later this year. The Spectacles will use Qualcomm's Snapdragon XR platforms for processing. The multi-year agreement focuses on developing on-device AI, graphics, and multiuser experiences. Snap spun off Specs as a separate company earlier in 2024. The product remains in developer testing phase since that time.
