
Fazal Tahir, 63, a key figure in the Indian Army's 2003 Operation Sarp Vinash against terrorists in Hilkaka, Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir, died of a heart attack in Uttarakhand. The operation eliminated approximately 80 terrorists and marked a turning point in countering cross-border terrorism in the region. Tahir, a former Special Police Officer, later worked as a timber merchant.
