Roblox introduces ‘Kids’ and ‘Select’ accounts for age-appropriate access to games and chat

TechCrunch·2h ago·Positivity

What Happened

Roblox introduced three account tiers based on age verification: Kids accounts for ages 5-9, Select accounts for ages 9-15, and standard accounts for 16+. Kids accounts access only minimal-content games with chat disabled by default. Select accounts allow moderate-rated games and age-group chat. Parents can approve specific games. All accounts undergo developer verification, real-time evaluation, and content screening. Rollout begins June.
