What Happened

The National Green Tribunal ruled that the National Highway Authority of India violated environmental regulations by constructing eight pillars that encroached upon a wetland in Goyla Khurd Village, southwest Delhi. The encroachment covered 2.36 square meters, approximately 0.23% of the pond's total area. The wetland is officially listed and protected under Delhi regulations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Urban Extension Road-II in August 2025.
