Guru Gobind Singh created the Khalsa on Baisakhi to unite common people against oppression. Five volunteers from different regions—Orissa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Delhi, and Punjab—became the 'Panj Pyare'. Given the surname Singh, they transcended caste and regional boundaries. Khalsa challenged Mughal authority and eliminated clergy intermediaries, enabling direct connection with God. The movement promoted equality and justice, eventually empowering the oppressed to become rulers.
