What Happened
Japan's Rakuten e-commerce platform is adding XRP to its Rakuten Pay app, allowing 44 million users to spend Ripple's cryptocurrency at over 5 million merchant locations. Starting April 15, users can purchase XRP with Rakuten Points, trade it, and use it for payments. The integration connects XRP to Rakuten's loyalty system with 3 trillion points in circulation worth approximately $23 billion.
