Punjab and Haryana High Court set aside the conviction of three police officials—Baljinder Singh, Darbara Singh, and Daljit Singh—in a 2007 prisoner escape case. Justice Sanjay Vashisth ruled it unreasonable to expect police to prevent pre-planned escapes without adequate resources. The court blamed state administration for failing to provide vehicles, weapons, and facilities. An undertrial prisoner escaped while being escorted to Ambala court. The trial court acquitted them in 2014, but appellate court convicted them in 2015.
