Pune Riverfront Project under scrutiny as most of 1,700 ‘transplanted’ trees go missing

What Happened

Citizens studying Pune's urban ecology reported that over 1,000 of 1,713 trees transplanted for the Riverfront Development project have gone missing. The group found newly-planted trees at destination sites instead of transplanted ones. They flagged lack of monitoring and documentation to the municipal corporation. The citizens requested detailed tree census, transparency in transplantation data, and long-term monitoring. PMC has not yet responded.
