What Happened
A 30-year-old PhD student died by suicide at her Pune residence on Saturday. Her guide, Dr. A Benniamin, head of office at the Botanical Survey of India, was arrested. Police found a suicide note blaming him for molestation and mental harassment since August 2025. He faces charges under BNS sections 108 and 74. Court remanded him in police custody until April 15.
