What Happened
Israel's National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East Jerusalem accompanied by settlers and Israeli forces, his third such visit this year. He performed Jewish prayers at the site, violating the 1967 status quo agreement. Jordan and the Palestinian Authority condemned the action as desecration and escalation. Ben-Gvir has visited at least 16 times since 2022. Meanwhile, Israeli forces arrested 18 Palestinians in West Bank raids.
