Palestinian leader Marwan Barghouti has endured three violent assaults in Israeli prisons during March and April, according to his lawyer Ben Marmarelli. The 66-year-old Fatah senior leader, serving a life sentence since 2002, was severely beaten at Ganot Prison on April 8 with medical care denied. Previous incidents occurred during prison transfers and in solitary confinement. Barghouti's lawyer described visit conditions as harsh and inhumane, though noting his client remained mentally sharp.
