Outgoing Bengal BJP MLA Ashok Lahiri named NITI Aayog vice-chairman, Gobardhan Das appointed member

What Happened

Ashok Lahiri, outgoing West Bengal BJP MLA and former Chief Economic Adviser, has been appointed NITI Aayog vice-chairman. Scientist Gobardhan Das from Bengal also joined as NITI Aayog member. Lahiri, an economist from Presidency College Kolkata, previously worked with World Bank, IMF, and Asian Development Bank. The vice-chairman position carries ministerial rank.
