What Happened
Indian Grandmaster Nihal Sarin won the 5th Menorca Open Masters tournament in Spain, scoring six points from ten rounds. He defeated World Champion D. Gukesh in both their encounters during the event. Nihal finished half a point ahead of Ukrainian GM Ruslan Ponomariov and Hungarian Richard Rapport. He recorded four wins, the most in the tournament. Gukesh finished with three wins and four losses. Leon Luke Mendonca won the Open 'A' event.
