The National Highways Authority of India has set December 2026 as the completion deadline for the 22-kilometer Sahibganj-Manihari Ganga bridge connecting Jharkhand and Bihar. The project includes a 6-km main bridge using extradosed technology, a 300-meter rail bridge, nine smaller bridges, and nine underpasses. Once finished, the bridge will reduce travel distance by approximately one-tenth and improve connectivity to northeastern states, Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh.
