What Happened

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority has invited bids for consultants to finalise the detailed project report for Metro Line 14, a 43.69 km corridor connecting Kanjurmarg to Badlapur. This follows termination of the earlier contract with Italian firm M s Metro Milano in December 2025 after IIT Bombay flagged concerns in the feasibility report. The new consultant will reassess funding options, address technical issues, update ridership projections, and prepare engineering designs. Metro Line 14 will have 24 stations, mostly elevated, serving eastern periphery areas including Bhandup, Mulund, Thane, Ambernath, and Badlapur.
