
India's National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited has commenced lowering and assembly of Tunnel Boring Machines for a 16-km tunnel section between Bandra Kurla Complex and Sawli. The tunnel, part of the 508-km Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail project, will be 13.1 meters in diameter and span 25 to 57 meters deep. Two TBMs will operate from three shafts. A dedicated casting yard in Thane is producing 77,000 tunnel lining segments.
