London police arrested 523 pro-Palestinian protesters at a Trafalgar Square sit-in supporting Palestine Action on Saturday. Ages ranged from 18 to 87. Palestine Action was designated a terrorist organisation in July, making support punishable by up to 14 years imprisonment. The High Court overturned the ban in February citing free speech concerns, but the government appealed. Nearly 3,000 arrests occurred since the original ban. Amnesty International criticised the arrests as harmful to civil liberties.
