What Happened
Madurai East Assembly constituency comprises urban and rural areas. After 2009 delimitation, rural and extension areas were added to the constituency. In the 2026 Assembly election, incumbent DMK MLA P. Moorthy, former Minister for Commercial Taxes and Registration, will compete against AIADMK's K. Mahendran, a former government advocate.
