What Happened

Approximately 400 fishers in Mumbai face livelihood threats as 45,675 mangroves across 103.6 hectares are being cleared for the 23-kilometer Versova-Bhayandar Coastal Road project. Fishing near mangroves provides their primary income source across Versova, Charkop, Dahisar, Malvani, and Gorai areas. The mangrove destruction has left communities concerned about alternative employment.
