Karnataka unveiled a draft policy adopting Alcohol-in-Beverage taxation, taxing liquor by actual alcohol volume rather than volume. Currently levying 83% tax, the highest nationally, the new system aims to lower premium spirit prices while raising budget liquor costs. If implemented, Karnataka becomes India's first state adopting AIB taxation, potentially influencing other states.
