
Asha Bhosle, legendary playback singer, died Sunday at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai at age 92. Her son Anand confirmed her death. She was admitted April 11 with exhaustion and chest infection. Bhosle's eight-decade career began at age 10 in 1943. She recorded more songs than any female singer of her era, won two National Awards, a Grammy Award, Dadasaheb Phalke Award, and Padma Vibhushan.
