What Happened

Akshaya, a Kerala resident, was initially denied voting in Thrissur because her left index finger was bandaged following a mixer-grinder injury. Despite presenting medical certificates and a medical officer's confirmation, the presiding officer refused to allow voting without removing the bandage. After five hours of waiting without food, following intervention by administrative officials and the Chief Electoral Officer's directive, Akshaya was permitted to vote at 6:15 pm.
