
The Election Commission of India wrote to Karnataka's Chief Secretary on April 2 regarding alleged Model Code of Conduct violations. The ECI noted fresh sanction of financial benefits under five guarantee schemes in Davanagere South and Bagalkot districts ahead of April 9 bypolls. The commission sought details on fund releases and officer names. Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar said benefits were provided until March, with April installments delayed until after elections. Shivakumar alleged BJP conspiracy against guarantee schemes.
