A gunfight occurred outside the Israeli consulate in Istanbul, Turkey on Tuesday. One attacker was killed and two others wounded in the exchange with police. Two police officers sustained minor injuries. The attackers used rifles and pistols in the assault lasting at least ten minutes. Interior Minister Mustafa Ciftci said the attackers, including two brothers, had links to a religious extremist organisation and traveled from Izmit in a rented car. No Israeli diplomatic staff were present at the consulate.
