Meenu Batra, 53, a Hindi-Punjabi-Urdu court interpreter in Texas, was detained by ICE on March 17 at Harlingen airport. She has lived in the US for 35 years after her parents died in 1984 anti-Sikh violence. Her lawyers filed a habeas corpus petition arguing her detention violates due process, citing valid work authorization under a withholding of removal order. She remains at El Valle Detention Center.
