What Happened
Union Minister Piyush Goyal announced that the India-UK Free Trade Agreement will likely become operational by May 1, 2026. The India-EU FTA is expected within nine months. India has signed nine FTAs in 3.5 years, providing preferential access to 38 developed countries. Indian businesses now have preferential access to two-thirds of global trade. India is negotiating with 20 additional countries for expanded market access.
