What Happened

India's External Affairs Minister Jaishankar and Petroleum Minister Puri are visiting West Asian countries to secure energy supplies amid regional tensions. Jaishankar is attending the Indian Ocean Conference in Mauritius before visiting UAE. Puri is in Qatar to prioritize LNG and LPG supplies. India depends on West Asia for half its natural gas needs and sixty percent of LPG imports through the Strait of Hormuz. Recent disruptions have halted LNG tanker arrivals since early March.
