What Happened
Bihar Opposition Leader Tejashwi Yadav criticized the state's 10-year prohibition policy, calling it institutional corruption. He alleged a ₹40,000 crore illegal liquor economy exists alongside 11 lakh cases and 16 lakh arrests. Yadav claimed daily consumption exceeds seizures significantly and questioned why enforcement targets poor citizens instead of officials. Nine deaths from spurious liquor occurred recently in East Champaran district.
