Delhi's BJP government will install floating solar panels on lakes and water bodies for the first time. The pilot project starts at Bawana lake in Northwest Delhi, expected to generate 1 megawatt of power. Similar panels will be installed on the Yamuna and other water bodies. Floating solar is cheaper and more efficient than rooftop installations. The project costs Rs 5-6 crore. Delhi aims for 4,500 MW solar capacity by March 2027.
