
Asha Bhosle, the iconic playback singer, passed away on April 12 at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai at age 90, following a chest infection. Born in 1933, she began her singing career at age 10 in 1943 with the Marathi film Majha Bal. Over her eight-decade career, Bhosle lent her voice to over 12,000 songs and collaborated with renowned music directors including OP Nayyar, RD Burman, and AR Rahman. She was the recipient of the Padma Vibhushan and Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
