What Happened
Pakistan negotiated a two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran after nearly six weeks of conflict. US President Donald Trump announced the agreement on Truth Social minutes before his deadline to strike Iran. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed the ceasefire on X. Both leaders credited Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir for mediating. Formal talks are scheduled in Islamabad on Friday. The war began February 28 with coordinated US-Israeli strikes, killing over 2,000 Iranians.
