Union petroleum minister Hardeep Singh Puri met US Ambassador Sergio Gor to strengthen bilateral energy cooperation. India seeks greater access to American energy commodities including crude oil, LNG, and LPG. The US has become a key LPG supplier after Middle Eastern sources declined. India signed a deal in November 2025 to import 2.2 million tonnes of US LPG for 2026, covering 10% of requirements. An Indian trade delegation visits the US starting January 20 to advance bilateral trade agreement discussions.
