What Happened

India's government doubled the daily quota of market-priced 5-kg LPG cylinders for migrant workers to stabilise fuel supplies disrupted by Strait of Hormuz tensions. A 5-kg cylinder costs ₹549 in Delhi. Since March 23, approximately 7.8 lakh cylinders were sold. The government increased commercial LPG allocation to 70% of pre-crisis levels and conducted over 4,300 raids against hoarding and black marketing. Household cooking gas supply remains prioritised.
