
Seattle unveiled the first life-size Swami Vivekananda statue in the United States at Westlake Square on Saturday. Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson and India's Consul General Prakash Gupta jointly unveiled the bronze statue, sculpted by Indian artist Naresh Kumar Kumawat. The Indian Council of Cultural Relations gifted the monument to recognize Seattle's multicultural character. The statue stands in a high-traffic public space attracting 400,000 daily visitors near Amazon headquarters and other landmarks.
