What Happened
Former Austria goalkeeper Alex Manninger, 48, died Thursday when his car was struck by a train at a crossing near Salzburg. Manninger played for Arsenal from 1997 to 2001, winning the league title and FA Cup. He also played for Liverpool and six Italian clubs before retiring in 2017. Police reported the collision occurred at 8:20am. The train driver was uninjured. Multiple clubs mourned his death.
