The Himachal Pradesh High Court ordered the Vidhan Sabha to release pension and arrears to former Congress MLAs Rajinder Rana and Ravi Thakur, disqualified for violating party whip in 2024 before joining BJP. The court ruled the 2026 amendment bill denying pension to disqualified MLAs applies only prospectively, not retrospectively. Both MLAs were elected in 12th and 13th assemblies, making them entitled to pension. Payment must occur within one month with six percent annual interest if delayed.
