Developer of VeraCrypt encryption software says Windows users may face boot-up issues after Microsoft locked his account

What Happened

Microsoft terminated the account of VeraCrypt developer Mounir Idrassi used for signing Windows drivers and bootloaders on March 30, providing no explanation or appeal option. VeraCrypt is open-source encryption software with nearly one million downloads. Without account access, Idrassi cannot apply required new digital signatures by late June, potentially preventing Windows systems with full-disk encryption from booting. Linux and macOS updates remain unaffected.
